Girls flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and Minnesota is right at the center of it. This fast, non-contact game emphasizes speed, teamwork, and strategy while building confidence and leadership in student-athletes of all experience levels.
Whether your athlete is new to football or already loves the game, flag football is a place to belong, compete, and grow—on and off the field.
This is more than a season—it’s a pathway sport:
- High school leagues are expanding nationwide, and right here in Minnesota the girls flag football movement is growing fast — with over 90 schools set to compete across the state in the spring season!

Starting something new can feel intimidating—but girls flag football is built to welcome everyone.
Whether you’re a multi-sport athlete, brand new to football, or just curious about trying something different, Rogers Girls Flag Football is a place to learn, compete, and belong.
Games
We play an 8 game regular season schedule with doubleheaders each week (all games are on Sundays).
A game consists of two twenty minute running time halves with the last two minutes being stop time. Doubleheaders are generally completed within a two hour window.

Practices
- Practices: Typically 1–2 times per week
- Designed to complement school and other activities

Gear
You don’t need much to get started:
- Athletic cleats
- Comfortable athletic clothing (for practice)
- Jerseys & Football Belt (provided by the program)
- A mouthguard (required). To be legal, mouthguards must not include any attachment(s) that do not serve a purpose and function in protecting the teeth or mouth. Athletes will not be allowed to participate until they have a legal mouthguard.
- Football gloves (recommended)
- Headgear (required). Such as, Guardian Loop, Storelli ExoShield Head Gear

- Students enrolled at Rogers High School or Middle School or Prairie view Middle School (8th grade)
- No prior football experience required
