Rogers Flag Football and 7v7 Referees

Download SportsEngine app and be responsible with your schedule. Use "Ref Communications" to communicate with other refs. Contact Dan via email with any questions or concerns.

  • Have a whistle
  • Have a stopwatch
  • Referee shirt and penalty flag are recommended but not required
  • Notepad for scores and game notes
  • Coin for coin toss
  1. Know the rules (7v7 and flag)
  2. Know your schedule.
  3. Find your own replacement and report to Ref Coordinator any changes
  4. Be at field on time or even early.
  5. Introduce yourself to coaches and be sociable. Helps minimize issues.
  6. Be actively engaged and put in effort.
  7. Take notes of coach/player issues.
    -What happened, what did you do/say, how was it resolved.
  8. Make sure field is set-up correctly (coaches should set up cones)
  9. Make sure players have jerseys tucked in and flags are visible.
  10. Get captains for coin toss. Visitor calls.
  11. Be consistent with rules. 
  12. Be firm (don’t be tentative)-you are in charge.
  13. Remind coaches of time left and timeouts (notepad).
  14. Confirm scores with both coaches at end of game and report the score to Ref Coordinator at the end of the night.
